Fall flavors are definitely making their way onto our menu! Squash, apples, cinnamon, and plenty of warm, cozy meals are exactly what I’m craving this time of year. I’m also a big fan of pumpkin in both sweet and savory dishes, although I know savory pumpkin can be a little controversial. I think the key is adding enough savory seasonings like sage, garlic, herbs, or spices so it doesn’t taste overly sweet. What do you think—does pumpkin belong in savory dishes or should it stick to dessert?
Our evenings are also getting a little less hectic now that Claire’s cross country season is over. We still don’t get to sit down for family dinners as often as I’d like, but I try to have a homemade meal ready that everyone can eat whenever their schedules allow. Menu Planning 10/18-10/31/26 has lots of cozy recipes that should be perfect for these cooler fall days.

Let’s Discuss!
Here are a few thoughts on the recipes I’ve made the past 2 weeks:
- Baked pepperoni rigatoni with hot honey– This was a one pan meal which I loved. I added some spinach for extra nutrients. I’d also recommend extra pepperoni. This would be good with Italian sausage instead of the pepperoni, too.
- Cabbage roll soup– Claire had a similar recipe at a friend’s house and loved it. I found this on pinterest and altered it for the slow cooker. It was very warming. It does make a lot though! I’ll freeze half when I make it again.
- Potsticker and rice bake– This was very easy and quite tasty! We all enjoyed the flavor and it came together so fast.
- Tiramisu brownies– Yum! I didn’t have espresso powder and used cocoa powder instead. I think it made my kids like it more since they aren’t a fan of coffee. The fluffy layer is delicious. Highly recommend.
There are quite a few new recipes on Menu Planning 10/18-10/31/26, so I’m excited to see which ones end up being keepers. The French onion orzo, Irish apple cake, and cinnamon pie are especially calling my name right now! And I’m always happy when the menu starts filling up with soups, casseroles, and all those cozy meals that just taste better in the fall.
Now I want to know: Are you a fan of pumpkin and squash in savory dishes, or do you think they belong strictly in the sweet category? And what fall recipe are you looking forward to making right now?
