Confident Twosday: 3 Outfit Ideas for a Unique Valentine's Day Look

I love the opportunity to mix traditionally faux pas color around certain holidays. Valentine's Day it's fun to pull out all the pink and red! But it's also fun to think outside the box. Today I am sharing some tips to make your Valentine's Day outfits more unique!

1. Keep it neutral with a pop of pink or red.

This is perfect for those days you don't really care to look like a walking Valentine, but still want to be festive. Just wear an all neutral outfit, then accessorize with pink or red. For a casual look, I paired a neutral top with bright pink heels and a bag that. It would be a good casual date option or for running errands!

2. Think beyond traditional colors.
A Valentine's Day outfit doesn't only have to be red or pink. Other shades in the same color family can look just as festive and will help your outfit stand out from the crowd. Shades of purple, burgundy, or coral are all great options to have in mind when planning your outfit. This is a perfect solution in case the traditional pink or red just doesn't look good with your coloring (or you don't have any in your closet). I just got this coral top and thought it would be a nice alternative to red or pink for work. It pairs nicely with blush, too.

3. Use romantic textures in lieu of colors.
Valentine's Day isn't only about pink and red. It's about love and romance. Show that in your outfit by adding pieces that have lace or even sequins. Soft colors like blush, lavender, or ivory can be romantic too. By pairing sequins and lace and adding a bit of edge with my moto jacket and black boots, this could easily work as a date night look instead of the typical red dress.

  25. Such great ideas. I love the first outfit and tip number three. I usually try to wear something cheeky on Valentines Day, just for fun. Last year I wore a shirt with hearts on it. This year, however, I'm going to a musical so I need something more dressy and elegant. Not sure what yet.
