Coral Top and Plum Shorts

See how else I've worn these shoes here, here, here, and here
I don't think I've ever worn this top on here before. I made it a few years ago from this tutorial and fabric from fabric.com. Let's face it, Joann's just doesn't have a large selection of jersey prints and fabric.com was quite a bit less expensive. I really loved how it turned out and even have a polka dot one. It's a dolman top, but I modified it slightly so it wasn't super dolman (if that makes sense). They are really comfortable, but some of them are so loose you lose yourself in them! I've found things that are slightly more fitted are more flattering on me. What kind of items have you made for yourself?

  5. What a cute top! I used to sew quite often, but I've since stopped and only a few items still remain in rotation. Perhaps someday I'll pick it up again, but I would get so discouraged when things did not come out as I had imagined!

  7. Ha! I've also made tops from Merrick's tutorials! Yours turned out so nicely! (mine always had a million little threads dangling out the back! oops!) Plus, those might be the sandals I have been wishing for - I love the wedge!

  8. I'm so impressed! The shirt looks awesome! I made a really awesome sheath dress once and I was so happy with how it turned out. I recently made a kimono from Merrick's tutorial and it is... awful. It's enormous. It's my own fault, but I was so bummed because I spent so much time on it :(

  14. Oh no! I either really like or hate anything I make. There is no in between. I definitely get rid of most of the things I've made, but hopefully I am getting better!

  15. Whoa, I would never guess that top was home-made! It looks great. I've only made a couple things myself - I just don't have the patience for it. And I can usually buy something cheaper than the cost of fabric to make it myself.

  18. Amazing color combo! I love these two together. Coral is my favorite but I never thought about pairing it with purple.

  19. I love it! The only thing I've ever sewn for myself is a skirt refashioned from a shirt.

  27. Wait you made that top??? It looks so intricate! Awesome job on that! Those shorts are just the most gorgeous shade of purple. Love love love!

I took a sewing class in high school where we made pj pants and a sweatshirt to wear, The pj pants were too skinny in the leg to be comfy and the sweatshirt was made of a fleece material with frogs on it. I have no idea what I was thinking when I selected that kit... Oh, and a skirt that came out so badly! It was made of a fabric with pink and white hibiscus flowers but the shape of the skirt just wasn't great. Now, I'm just learning how to alter. I haven't tried to make anything yet. Maybe in the future...
