Twofer Tuesday: Work and Weekend

I've been wearing skirts a lot to work lately to help with the heat. They are professional, but cool enough in a non airconditioned building (at least for another week anyway, after June 17th it's all about shorts until late August!). Without the option of layers, I am turning to my colored belt collection to add a bit of interest to my outfits. I buy all my belts larger than I need. I get them so they fit my hips, and then I use a leather hole punch to add additional holes so I can wear it around my waist. They are less than $10 on amazon and are worth it! Do you do that for belts, too?

I ended up wearing this to a graduation party a couple weekends ago. It was a warm day and so I wanted a cute outfit, but one that allowed be to be running after and playing with Claire. Printed shorts were a great choice, especially when you have to crawl through a dog fence to get your daughter! I have seen so many cute printed shorts in stores lately, I am eyeing these and these nautical ones from Old Navy!

See how else I've worn my floral top here and how else I've worn these shorts here!

  6. I punch extra holes in my belts all the time! It's such a nifty tool to have. Love your pencil skirt and floral blouse.

  7. I also make good use of a leather hole punch for belts. Since I lost a bit of weight, it's allowed me to salvage all of my belts. And, like you, I love having belts in my wardrobe. They do so much to complete a look.

  8. It's perfect for that, too! $10 for a tool means I don't have to buy another $50 of belts! Definitely a win in my book. ;)

  10. Really great idea about buying belts to fit your hips - I need to keep this in mind for sure. I am so loving these adorable pink shorts! Pairing them with your black tee was perfect.

  11. I love the top you paired with the skirt! So pretty and feminine! I envy your ability to rock those shorts! They are so stinkin cute! These legs don't play nice with shorts...sigh.

  12. I always buy my belts a size too big for the same reason, but I haven't gotten around to buying the leather hole punch yet. Thanks for the reminder! It can be really annoying when there isn't a hole small enough for wearing around the waist.
Love those hot pink shorts on you!

  13. Thank you! It has a weird elastic waist, but I am so picky about floral prints, I just tuck it in to make it work. And I think you look great in shorts!

  14. Adore the 2nd outfit. I had to click on the link to see those amazing sandals because the grass covers them. =(

I am featuring your shorts post today on the blog. Make sure you let your readers know and include a link back to me, thanks. Also join our link up tomorrow, Laura, =)))

  15. Getting a hole punch would be a smart idea! I've tried with a pocket knife, but it ended up messing up the belt. I really like both of these looks! The first is perfect for work, and the second is the perfect casual summer look!

  18. They are really nice because they have different size holes you can make so it matches the belt, too! :)

  20. What a genius idea on the leather hole punch! I always struggle with what belt to buy because sometimes I want to wear it around my waist and higher up and those are two totally different sizes! Is the brand you linked to the one you have? Can't believe it's so affordable- this totally opened up my belt options- thank you!

  22. It's not the exact one, but it looks very similar. You might even be able to get one at a craft store. I don't know which brand I have, my husband got it years and years ago. Sorry!

  23. Thanks for the tips- I am going to look into getting one!

  24. Finally, I decided to find you out since I have not received any of your postS through email for awhile. It turned out they were all stuck in my spam folder.
I love this look and job well done!

  27. i love the pretty blouse you're wearing in the top picture! sometimes it does seem hard to add interest to outfits when you can't layer, so i love the idea of colorful earrings or belts. i discovered the greatness of those belt hole puncher thingies a couple years ago and agree that it is such a useful tool to have so you can wear belts at your waist or hips!

  28. Oh my gosh, the second outfit is so great! I LOVE the hot pink and black together, and the print on the shorts is really fun. Also, I totally do the same thing with my belts :)
