Gray Dress and Layers

I've always found it interesting reading about how bloggers decide whether or not to tell their friends, family, or co-workers about their blogs. I told my family after a couple months and occasionally I mention it to friends. Sometimes people have found out through pinterest or through facebook. I will post my recipe posts to my personal account, but I feel a little odd posting my outfit posts. It's so odd how it's ok to share parts of your life and outfits to strangers, but sharing it with people you know can be scary!
A couple weeks ago I had a funny situation when co-worker joked that she noticed I post recipes, but I should start a fashion blog. So I spilled the beans and I guess now my "secret" is out!

See how else I have worn this dress here and here!

  4. It is weird how we can tell the world everything but but not family and friends. I started using my personal facebook so I guess my secret was spilled immediately I stil find it strange when I find out from my facebook who is actually reading me though. Great outfit

  6. I don't talk about it much, but pretty much everyone knows and will mention it to me. It's still awkward when new people find out. I really like this combo, I wore something very similar this fall, I should try to wear it again before it gets warm.

  7. I have only told my husband and an Albanian friend who is also a fashion blogger. 4 other people I know have found out about it (on accident) and gave me compliments actually. I think more people might have found out through my google account but they just haven't told me. One of these days I will tell more people I guess, starting with my female cousins.

Telling strangers or having strangers see your outfits is by far easier though. I am liking the ease of this outfit yet how dressy it is. I should re-create it with my knit mustard infinity scarf. =) When are we swapping styles? =P

  8. It's so funny how we all much prefer strangers to read our blogs instead of people we know! My husband recently let it leak to a couple of his MBA classmates and now the entire program knows. I am honestly feel so awkward around them now. Sigh. I mean, I guess it's my own fault for having a blog, but still.

Love that sheath and I love that you thrifted it!

  9. I don't really tell many people I know either! My family knows (although I don't think they read it) and my sister-in-law knows. A couple of my close friends know (but they have blogs too). I don't know why it's so awkward but it is!

  10. Cute! I love that scarf and have a similar one. It's a great color. Yes, it is strange to "come out" about your blog to people you know. So funny how we don't mind sharing it with strangers!

  12. Great colors and textures- those tights are so fun! I haven't told my friends and family about my blog (the super close ones, yes) but my larger friend base/FB people- not yet after a year + of blogging. It's just weird for me to share outfit photos...! Trying to get some courage :-)

  13. It's so funny how some people think it is cool and others think it is weird! I am usually pretty embarrassed when someone talks to me about it. I had a co-worker who thought it was cool, and I didn't mind when she said things, but then one time she mentioned it in front of like 30 other co-workers and I was super embarrassed!

  14. Great gray dress, Laura! Many look and I love the belted effect. I know when I started my blog I was so excited to tell people But, if they don't blog, they act like they can't come and at least read it and see what is happening here. I saw some cousins yesterday and one specifically has had breast cancer and she wanted to know my email address, so I told her to see Simple Sequins and get my email there. She acted like I was speaking Greek? Glad you have attention now from some co-workers!

  17. i love this look, laura! the scarf looks so warm and cozy but it doesn't look like it overwhelms your neck either, which is always nice. :) can you believe i have had my blog for over 2 years and haven't told any family or friends? and if they've found out, they haven't said anything. it is something i want to keep as my outlet and just for me. i honestly don't know how i would react if anyone in my personal life ever finds out about it!

  18. Haha, I have hardly told anyone about my blog, either! My parents know...my husband knows...and I have told a few close friends about it, and that's about it. I am always so worried that people will think it's so strange and vain, but everyone I've told about it so far has been so supportive about it, so I'm not so sure what I'm afraid of!

  19. Wow! You are amazing at keeping secrets! If you do ever tell them, I am sure they will love it though! You always have such cute outfits!

  20. People who I've told or have found out have said positive things. I agree with you though, I am not sure why it's still so hard to tell people! ;)
