Winter Must Haves: Colored and Patterned Tights

It's week 6 of our Winter Must Haves and there is only one more week to go! Next week will be an exciting finale to this series with a link up! Come back next week and link up an outfit featuring one of our Winter Must Haves on either of our blogs.
This week Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood and I are styling our colored and patterned tights. Ada kept both her outfits pretty neutral and really let her tights take center stage. That green really pops and looks amazing with her leather skirt. I'm really loving her cozy cardigan, too. For her patterned tights Ada scored an amazing striped pair (can you say jealous?!) They compliment her sweater dress and add loads of interest to her outfit. Her colored necklace really helps bring everything together. Make sure you visit Elegance and Mommyhood to read her post and see more pics of her outfits!
And don't forget to check out Week 1Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, and Week 5 of our Winter Must Haves!
With colored tights, I like to keep my outfit fairly neutral as well. Tights are a great way to add fun color to an outfit. With this outfit, I added a coordinating belt to help balance the outfit out. There really isn't a need to do this when there are bright colors or patterns, but with this outfit, the belt is an improvement and breaks up the dark colors.

This outfit is kind of a combination of this pin and this pin. I had been wanting to wear something like this for a while, but this skirt had been in my altering pile for a while. I had to take it in and I shortened it a good 4 inches. I like skirts to fall just above my knee. This time I added patterned tights to mix it up.  Because I had color with my scarf and print with the top, the tights again help to balance it out. Colored tights would have competed with it all. The pattern adds interest, but the black still goes with the palette of the outfit.

Tights are such a great and inexpensive addition to your wardrobe. They are totally work appropriate and practical and can really complete an outfit. Want to add some coloreded ones to your wardrobe? What about thesethese, or these! Check out some of my patterned tights picks here, here, and here.

  3. Both of these Outfits were great. I love both pairs of Tights, especially the Black pair. I too noticed the purple belt matching those purple tights perfectly. This has been a great series so far and I am sure the Finale will be even better. And you have some great skirts.

    Happy Wednesday!! Ada. =)

  6. Yes please to patterned tights! Love them! It has been so cold here that I can only wear tights under pants right now! Sort of defeats the purpose;) Hoping that the weather warms up a bit so I can wear my tights with a dress! Susan

  10. As long as I break out my boots I am typically ok, but it is supposed to be -25 again tomorrow so no skirts or tights until it warms up for me, too!

  16. I love the subtly of both of your tights outfits. I don't think I could get away with wearing crazy colored tights at work, but I could definitely wear them the way you did. I love the pattern on the black ones!

  17. There are so many cute colored ones, but the darker colors or black tights with print are definitely more work appropriate! I would feel out of place wearing hot pink tights to work!

  20. I like to have fun with my tights, sometimes the black feels a little tired. I think dark colors can still look really chic without being flashy.
