Plaid and Sequin Layers

Jacket-Gap (similar, similar) // Plaid-Gap via thredUp (similar, similar) // Tank-Old Navy (exact, polka dot option) // Jeans-c/o Silver Jeans (similar) // Boots-Espirit (similar) // Necklace-Groopdealz // Bracelets-gift, Stella and Dot Eden, eBay // Ring-gift

I've seen so many great combinations with plaid and sequins I just had to give it a try. The nice part about this outfit is I get the look of lots of layers without all the bulk. My plaid shirt is a light cotton and the sequin is just a tank top. Since I knew I was going to be adding a jacket, I kept my other layers light. Plaid is a fun way to tone down the sequins for a more casual look.

  1. I love this combo! And I was wondering exactly what you mentioned about the bulk. Whenever I consider trying more than 2 layers I get turned off thinking it will be bulky and uncomfortable all day. So it sounds like this is the way to go!

  2. I really like this! I pinned something similar, but my sequin tank is too low cutting th front to look right layered, whomp whomp. You lok great!

  3. Adorable! I am loving the plaid trend too! I've heard a couple of people rave about ThredUp, so I'm going to have to check it out. Although my New Years resolution is to cut back on the money I spend on clothes. :-(

  7. Thank you Julia! ThredUp has a great referral program to save money. Twice (similar online thrift store) does too. You can get $10 if someone referred you for your first order and then if you refer someone you get another $10 in store credit. I've gotten lots of great things that way! I have my referral codes on my December budget post if you want to use them. :)

  9. Definitely! I think if I layered a sweater under a blazer I wouldn't be able to move my arms. I do have some short sleeve sweaters that might work better for layering this way I might try in the future though!

  16. Me, too. Plaid is just one of those prints that makes me think of cooler (or colder) weather. I finally got a flannel plaid and am loving it! It so thick and warm!

  19. I love this look head to toe and so far in 2014 this is the best look. You set the bar high for the rest of the year with this. Certainly pinning and re-creating soon. I too am gaga about Plaid paired with Sequins. =)

  24. Ooooh, girl! That blazer is AWESOME! I've been looking for a similar piece forever, but have struck out. I love how it looks with the plaid shirt and sequins - the juxtaposition between the more casual plaid shirt and the more formal/dressy sequined tank is great. Lovely! :)
