Little Moments

As I was thinking last night about what I want write my blog post on for today, Claire woke up screaming. Occasionally she will do that whether it is from a nightmare or she is upset and confused from waking up suddenly we aren't sure. Normally we wait to see if she can put herself back to sleep, but I knew that wasn't going to happen this time so I went in to comfort her.

Although we have a bedtime routine to help her go to sleep faster and put herself to sleep (which she is very good at). I just couldn't find it in myself to put her down after a few moments. We rocked and eventually she fell asleep in my arms. I can't remember the last time that happened. I am so glad I took the time to just sit with her. Claire isn't very cuddly at this stage and is constantly on the move, but she just laid there while we rocked. Sometimes I don't take time to enjoy these little moments, but they are what life is all about. God, I love that little girl and will try to take her reminder to heart!

Onto a far less serious topic: my outfit. Kim blogged about her grey skinnies a while ago and I must say I was inclined to agree with her. I am not sure why, but I find them difficult to style. Maybe it is because I feel like they make an outfit much more dreary than a different color pair of bottoms would. Who knows (because I sure don't). I challenged myself to wear them more often and think of more outfits. I even pinned a few outfits on my style board specifically for grey pants inspiration. I really like how this outfit turned out with lighter colors on top and with my shoes. What are your thoughts?

  2. Yeah, I think you did an excellent job! I think grey pants can be really easy or really difficult, just based on how dark they are.

  5. Those pants are great and you styled them so well with the 2 light-colored tops. And I feel you about Claire. Vivian wakes up hysterically crying or being very uncomfortable sometimes so I get to hold her in my arms, comfort her, kiss her, hug her and just let her feel close to me. Those are the little moments and the moments that matter the most. Looking forward to tomorrow. ;-)

  6. I love a gray trouser- and while yes, they add a bit of a dreary element (this is a good phrase for it), I think it can also be super chic. Digging the pastel match up top in your outfit! Lovely!

  7. 1) You gotta love those little reminders. My four year old is VERY non-cuddly any more, except for when she doesn't feel good. While I hate that she's miserable, I do love being able to cuddle up with her to help her heal. Those moments when she lets me just hold her... I live for those. I know you've heard this a million times before, but make sure you appreciate those moments because I promise you, they get fewer and farther between the more they grow!

    2) I love how you styled your pants! Gives me some more ideas for how to wear mine. ;)

  8. Love you got to cuddle with her. Grant is the same way, he gets all wiggly at bedtime. I really like your pants today, think of gray as a neutral and I bet you'll be able to come up with a bunch of looks :)

  10. I agree! It isn't that they don't go with things either. I just end up thinking my outfit would look better with different colored bottoms so I change. I think if I just force myself to wear them more it will get easier to think of good outfits.

  11. They really are! Those are the moments that remind you that being a mom is the best thing in the world. I just love it! And thank you Ada! Hope you're enjoying your days before flying back to Europe!

  12. I totally agree! I am constantly shocked at how fast the grow up, too. I mean, holy crap! Just this week Claire is standing by herself, walking with her wheeled cart, and waving hello and bye! It's hard sometimes not to panic because you feel like you can't take the time to enjoy each stage. And I've been liking your inspiration with grey pants, too! :)

  13. I am sure I will, I just need to put more thought into it and typically I wear the first thing that comes to mind! :) Maybe mustard like you suggested today!
