Chicken and Cheese Steaks

It really pains me to admit this, but I used to watch Jon & Kate + 8. I guess one good thing that came out of that show was a recipe for chicken and cheese steaks though. Kate made them on a show and they looked pretty good so I found the original recipe she used online. And they did turn out well!

1. All you need is an onion, red pepper, 14oz. jar of pizza or tomato sauce, 1/2 lb of cooked chicken (cut in thin strips), and a loaf of french bread.

2. Preheat your oven to 350F and cut the french bread open. Place on baking sheet.

3. Sprinkle chicken on bottom half of bread.

4. Slice red pepper and onions thinly and cook in frying pan with 1T. olive oil until onions are translucent. Spoon on bottom half of bread over top of chicken.

5. Spoon tomato sauce over top.

6. Slice cheese and place over top of tomato sauce and on top half of bread. Bake for 5-10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

7. Place top half of bread on bottom half and cut into 4-5 sandwiches.

  1. I just finished breakfast but now I am looking forward to lunch! These look delicious but also so simple!

  2. After a long day of work, simple recipes just can't be beat! :) I love all the flavors in this.

  3. I need to try these. They have all the ingredients I love. I'd probably add more cheese though or add 1 or 2 more kinds of cheese. You can never have too much cheese LOL.

  4. I live in Wisconsin so definitely more cheese! 2 kinds sounds like a great idea, I will have to try that next time!

  5. Thank you so much for linking up at All Things Pretty. I hope to see you back on Thursday. I am also now following you on Instagram.
