For the last menu planning post I was apparently feeling a bit adventurous and had 5 new recipes to try out. It’s always fun to expand our palette by having new meals for dinner and desserts. Thankfully my family is very open to me experimenting with new flavors and ingredients. Over the previous 2 weeks here are the recipes we tried out and our thoughts on them:
- Chili Garlic Chicken Fried Rice– Matt found this on tiktok. It has high protein and was pretty easy. We enjoyed it!
- Mint Chocolate Chip Sheet Cake– Claire made this for us. The cake is moist and the frosting is amazing. We put mint chocolate chips in the frosting instead dark chocolate.
- Tofu Lettuce Wraps– My hubby was very suspicious of this, but ended up grudgingly liking it. I even added a 1/4c. peanut butter to some and it added even more flavor! The girls loved it.
- Poppers in a Blanket– I tweaked this recipe to use larger smoked sausages. Some had jalapeno, some did not. The girls really enjoyed them and even asked for them in their school lunches.
- Bananas Foster Crisp- If you don’t like bananas, skip this recipe. We liked it though. It was especially good with vanilla or caramel ice cream. If I make it again, I would simmer the sauce longer to thicken it.
