Swim, pool, and more swim. That’s been our month life lately this June 2025. Both girls are doing the local summer swim team and Claire has been doing long course with the club team. They are rocking it and having so much fun along the way though. I’m glad they find something active they both enjoy and have made amazing friendships, too. Here is the rest of our life lately for June 2025.
Books I’ve Read

- Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn– This is a witty historical romance about spirited Billie Bridgerton and her unexpected love match with the reserved George Rokesby, set against the backdrop of Regency-era England. Billie Bridgerton is a fun character and it’s a cute story. 4/5
- The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband by Julia Quinn– Cecilia Harcourt pretends to be the wife of an injured soldier, Edward Rokesby, in Revolutionary War–era New York—only to find love and truth tangled in her deception. It kind of reminds me of the movie While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock without the brother. Engaging plotline. 4/5
- The Other Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn– Adventurous Poppy Bridgerton is kidnapped by the dashing and secretive Captain Andrew Rokesby, leading to an unexpected romance on the high seas. A bit of Stockholm Syndrome here although she was treated ok. Not my favorite of these. 3/5
- First Comes Scandal by Julia Quinn– The independent Georgiana Bridgerton is unexpectedly matched with her childhood friend Nicholas Rokesby, leading to a marriage of convenience that blossoms into true love. I love how 2 childhood friends realize how compatible they are. 4/5
Recipes I’ve Made
I’ve been trying out quite a few new recipes during life lately this June 2025 since I’m home more. Here is what I tried this month:

- Chimichurri Grilled Chicken with Garlic Sauce– I made these and added roasted sweet potatoes and corn instead of kale (my family is not a big fan). Yum! Next time I want to add roasted chick peas for some crunch.
- Tzatiki Chicken Pizza– I used pre-made Tzatiki Sauce and extra chicken from a different recipe. These were pretty fast to put together. They were delicious!
- Fluffernutter Pie– This was amazing! I also added a scoop of PB powder in with the whipped cream and it really added extra peanut butter flavor. It isn’t overly sweet either.
- Sweet & Spicy Korean Meatloaf – Love the flavor and new take on meatloaf. It was easy to make. If I were to change anything it would be to add a bit more seasoning and alter the recipe for 2lbs of meat since meat typically comes in 1lb increments.
- Halfway to Heaven Bars– These are amazing! Our entire family loved the light meringue topping.
- Confetti Cake Cookies– I loved the cookies, but I’m not a big fan of cream cheese frosting. My husband loved it though.
- Sea Salt Toffee Cookies– Very mixed on these. Great idea in concept, but the recipe didn’t have enough flour. I had to add an extra cup and they were still fairly flat. Delicious tasting though.
- Sloppy Joe Sweet Potato Bowls– We LOVED these. They are even better than sloppy joes. So much more flavorful. We had it pickles, jalapeños, and homemade pickled red onions. It came together pretty fast, too considering all of the elements of the dish.
Products I’ve Tried

- Poth Skincare items (received c/o for consideration)– The Poth Anti-Aging Serum is a great addition to any skincare routine, especially if you’re targeting dullness and dark spots. With powerhouse ingredients like 15% Vitamin C, niacinamide, and ferulic acid, it absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling noticeably smoother and brighter by morning. I love the glow it gives, though I’m not a fan of the scent. The Poth Eye Cream is equally impressive—lightweight but deeply hydrating, thanks to caffeine, squalane, and hyaluronic acid. It’s helped reduce puffiness and dark circles while softening fine lines, and it layers smoothly under makeup. For the price point, it delivers visible results and is a solid pick for tired eyes.

- Synergy Hair Products- I’ve been so impressed with Synergy hair products! With both of my daughters dealing with dry, chlorine-damaged hair from swimming—and one currently experiencing some small spots from alopecia—it’s been hard to find products that are gentle, effective, and non-irritating. Synergy’s Light Moisture Shampoo and Detangling Conditioner have made a noticeable difference in restoring softness and moisture without weighing their hair down. I especially appreciate the clean ingredient list—no fragrance, parabens, or dyes—which gives me peace of mind. The Detangling Conditioner smooths out knots easily, and the Finishing Spray gives just the right amount of hold without flaking or buildup. These hypoallergenic formulas are a win for our sensitive scalps and have become a staple in our routine! The entire set is $45 which I find pretty reasonable.
Currently
- Loving- Matt has taken Claire to a few out of town swim meets during the weekends. To get my long runs in, Avie has been biking with me (actually in front of me because she is faster!). She is so proud and I love the time with her.
- Doing outside- I feel like all I’ve been doing outside is either watching swim meets or weeding our garden. We’ve had an influx of thistles and I am really trying to stay on top of them so they stop spreading.
- Cooking/grilling- I’ve been enjoying cooking sweet potato bowls recently. They are so savory!
- Excited about- We leave for Iceland Sunday. We are all so excited to see this amazing country (and get out of the heat).
- Wearing- Since swim meets are so humid and hot lately, I’ve been really liking lightweight tennis dresses and skorts. They are cute, but cool.
- Family recap
- Avie- Avie is on camp #3 right now. She’s done cooking camp, Vacation Bible School, and now Girl Scout camp. She is so active and loves them all. We’ve still had time for play dates and pool time, too.

-
- Claire- Claire has been doing so well during swimming long course. She did the mile last Friday and took over 30 seconds off her time. She has also improved in the 500M and 200M. Claire got to volunteer as a helper at Vacation Bible School this year with her friends and had a great time. They all want to do it again next year.

-
- Me- I’ve been busy playing chauffeur alldayeveryday. Runs have been hard in the heat and humidity, but I’m still getting them in, just more slowly.
- Matt- Matt had a nice Father’s Day at the pool and getting take out from a local burger place we enjoy. He also set up the big screen the night before so we could watch Little Giants with friends. It was a fun time!

last day of school 24-25
