I don’t consider my self to be super creative or artsy, but I can follow a craft tutorial like no one’s business! It’s such a fun outlet for me and I love to have my own touch on things in my home. It’s nice to save money by re-doing things to match our decor, too. Every holiday season I pull out my craft bin and see what I can make. This year Claire and I have been having fun making things together, too! Here are some fun, inexpensive crafts we have been making lately!
Embroidery Hoop Wreath– so quick and easy! I found a Merry & Bright wooden lettering from Dollar Tree and used that. The whole project took maybe 25 minutes and looks fantastic on my front door! I even made one for my neighbors!
Tie Dye Coffee Filter Wreath-Claire made this one with a local crafter who posts craft videos for kids! Super cute!
Reversible Fleece Blanket-based on this tutorial, but I made it reversible with white buffalo and red buffalo plaid on each side.
Pine Cone Tree– Our neighbors gave us some very large pinecones. The girls think they are so fun! I glued one to a candle stick holder from the Dollar Tree and Claire decorated it with beads and string. Great project to keep her busy for an hour!
Bleached Pine Cones– I loved the look of these on the tutorial photos, but underestimated the sheer amount of paint it took. They didn’t quite turn out as I had hoped, but I will give them another shot because they look so neat!
Knotted Headband– Have you seen the adorable J.Crew plaid headbands?! I wanted one for Christmas so much, but didn’t have time to make the trip to J.Crew so I grabbed a headband we had and plaid fabric I had from my stash and made one myself! 10 minutes and $0-super cute!
Mini Felt Trees– This was fun and I was able to make it with things already on hand. It turned out so well I want to make more! The tutorial didn’t say, but it took me about 12 cut out felt trees to glue on the stick.
Chalkboard Winter Scene– I ‘refurbished’ our chalkboard that we had for years by painted and distressing the frame and repainting the chalkboard in black paint. I did this winter scene and we have it in our front hallway. It’s so cute!
Fabric Wrapped Ornaments– I redid a few of our Christmas decor that had silver or green ornaments in red and gold so we had a more cohesive them. Claire and I used the old ornaments for a craft and fabric wrapped them in buffalo plaid and check fabric I had laying around and old ribbon and acorns and pinecones from outside. No money spent and so much fun!
Aren’t these all so fun?! Which are your favorites?
