Keeping Your Skin Smooth During Winter

Keeping Your Skin Smooth During Winter

Winter here is harsh. There is really no way around it. The bitter cold does a number on your skin. I've learned some tricks things that help, but Influenster and Vogue sent me a few products free for review that have helped even more!

Keeping Your Skin Smooth During Winter

1. For your hair:
Curly hair is more susceptible to dryness and breakage anyway. A dry atmosphere just compounds the issue. I tried out L'Oreal Ever Curl Shampoo, Conditioner, and Sculpt and Hold Cream Gel when I wore my hair curly over the past month. My hair was noticeably softer and it really helped define my curls and control frizz! I had defined, bouncy curls in my outfit post earlier this week when I used all three products. Even when I went to wash my hair again, it still felt soft in the shower after I wet it down. Often times, the products I use to help define my curls and keep them in place during the day can leave my hair feeling dry and stiff, but not with this line!

2. For your skin:
I use a variety of lotions and creams once I am out of the shower, but I in the shower I like to use a non-drying soap. This Caress shower gel has a long-lasting scent which means I don't even need to put on fragrance after a shower unless I want to.

3. For your house:
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Lotions, soaps, and other products can only go so far to help treat a problem that is already there. We received the Vicks Easy Fill Cool Mist Humidifier through Influenster and have been running it almost nonstop lately. I have noticed that when we run it, my skin isn't as dry. My husband really feels it helps with his breathing. I love the easy fill feature (so much better than our old one) and the VapoPads you can put in to release vapors when it is running.

  2. I agree with Jill about the humidifier! It makes such a difference here. I love the idea of the menthol vapor for the humidifier - I didn't know that existed!

  6. I have been running a humidifier in my daughters room at night, she has such sensitive skin... poor girl! I don't really have sensitive skin, so this is new for me. I hate when my hair is dry and frizzy!! Then I just battle it with the flat iron, which probably makes it drier!

  11. These are some great products during the winter. Curly hair (as I have it too) definitely breaks more during the winter. I just wrote a post about how to keep dryness away from you this winter on a budget. Would love if you can link up http://the-wardrobe-stylist.com/2017/01/08/thrifty-healthy-skin-tips/

  12. Yes, winter is the worst on my skin! I feel like I'm constantly putting on lotion. Humidifiers are life savers, and how cool is that one with the vapor pads! I bet that is amazing when you're under the weather!

  13. I'm like an alligator and terrible about putting on lotion! That little vaporizer is so compact compared to the ones of years past. May have to try that out. I've actually also been waking at night with a dry tickle in my throat so maybe this would do the trick.

  14. I have been running a diffuser some nights this winter but need to use it more often. We add essential oils to it that are supposed to help prevent sinus issues. This Vicks humidifier would probably be even better! Thanks for the recommendation.
