Just a few years ago, I wouldn’t have thought to pair these two items together. Why? The top has embellishments. The shorts are a print. That doesn’t mean they each need to be paired with a solid though. Although each piece has an interest level, they can still be complimentary to each other. Each piece is bold enough to stand on its own with a neutral top, but with a classic, neutral color palette they aren’t at odds, competing for attention. And when layering it out of the question, the added detail makes the whole outfit look purposeful. I look put together, while still being totally comfortable and staying cool. It’s a win-win!
