Yellow and Blue Stripes

Top-Old Navy (similar, similar) | Shorts-NY&Co (similar, similar) | Belt-AE (similar) | Shoes-Converse (exact, similar

I loved this outfit! I don't think I've ever done stripes on stripes before, but since the vertical pattern on the shorts is so small and light it was easy to mix it with another pattern. Of course my washer ruined this shirt so unfortunately I can't wear it again. I'll just gaze longingly at these pics. Occasionally we will have things come out of the wash with weird blue stains. The only thing we can think of that could be causing it is our laundry soap which is highly ironic. It's really too bad Old Navy is sold out of these tops because I would definitely buy another. It's rare to find a light colored shirt that isn't see through so when you do it's like treasure! I was online shopping and found this, this, or this as possible replacements. We will see if one of them works out!
See how else I've worn this top here and the shorts here.

  1. Sorry about your top! That stinks! I love stripes with everything - florals, stripes, solids. They just make everything look cute! I hope you have a great week! Susan

  5. What a bummer! My sister's tops keep getting ruined by how her laundry detergent reacts with one of her facial cleansers. It's just weird how that happens some times. I love these two stripes together and I agree, the shorts stripes are subtle enough to go very well with the bold top. Great choices!

  8. oh no! I hate it when mysterious stains happen! I had 2 shirts recently come out of the washer with this weird reddish stain. No idea! One was white, so I could bleach it and the stain came out. But the other top was ruined. It was one of my neglected items, so I wasn't too sad, but still - it was a cute shirt!

I like the stripes on stripes!!

  12. It seems like the washer ALWAYS mess up favorite tops! Hate when that happens. But this look is great, hopefully you can recreate it. Thanks for sharing this post in our #HowISummer link-up!

  13. Yellow looks so good on EVERY other person I think but me! Also the washer totally hates me because nothing ever looks that good after I put stuff in it!

  19. I would rather I stained it when I was wearing it because then at least it was my careless fault! ;)

  20. Oh no! We seem to have the same issue with our washer too! Fortunately, it just got the blue marks on my running clothes. (And let's be real, I don't care if I'm running around the neighborhood with blue streaks on my butt). I hope you're able to find a replacement!

  21. That top is too cute! I once had a blue stain issue, but I think it was that the blue stripes in a dress ran? Sorry to hear about the machine's snafu :(

  22. Those shoes scream summer! I love when you pair them with casual outfits! And I totally wouldn't have even have noticed the shorts had stripes! It looks great anyway!

  23. Too bad this pretty top is ruined. Love the soft yellow and the stripes. This outfit has such a cool, relaxed vibe. =)

  24. Oh no!! Do you put in the soap and fill the washer before adding the clothes? I notice that helps with the random blue stains. If it is soap, can you just wash it again? Not sure if it will work or not. We've also had great luck with using corn starch. It's so cute!

  25. Corn starch? I might have to try that! I've tried washing it quite a few times with and without soap or with different soap. I might even try bleaching it just as a last resort!

  26. Oh no what a bummer about that shirt, it really is adorable. And you are SO right about how hard it is to find light colored tops that aren't sheer, I'm getting really irritated with that lately!
