After visiting my sister in law and soon to be brother in law in Georgia, Matt and I headed to the Twin Cities on Wednesday. After settling in at the hotel we took the light rail into town and walked around. Well we actually got lost looking for some thrift stores and ended up walking 5 miles. Unfortunately the thrift store was definitely not one worth walking that far for. We did see an albino squirrel at a park though! We ate at Brit’s Pubthat night and let me tell you their banger’s and mash is delicious!
The next morning we went to Minehaha Falls. There weren’t many people there yet and we really enjoyed walking around. It’s such a beautiful area.
This is proof bringing 5 pairs of shoes is important. If you are walking all over a tennis shoe option definitely trumps a pair of Sperry’s!
Lunch was Izzy’s Ice Cream in Minneapolis. YUM! Their waffle cones are out of this world! I had the chai tea flavor and I want to go back for more. Even if it means a 6 hour drive.
A quick visit to St. Pauls’ Cathedral.
And a double dinner date with Megan and her husband from Two Birds. My first blogger meet up and we had so much fun! So now that my initial nervousness is gone, if anyone is ever near Milwaukee, please let me know, I’d love to meet up! We ate at the Blue Door Pub and I had a Blucy burger with peanut butter. It was officially the weirdest burger I’ve ever tasted, but was surprisingly not bad!
Friday morning we went to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
After lunch at Global Market we went kayaking that afternoon. Matt wants a kayak now.
And for our last night we went to Victor’s 1959 Cafe and thanks to Yalanda’s suggestion had an amazing Cuban sandwich and a drink so beautiful I (almost) didn’t drink it (spoiler-I did).
Thank you for the suggestions Brynn, Megan, and Yalanda! We had a blast!
