This has been a while in the making, but this past spring and summer my husband and I talked about my job. I've been working in the same school district for the past 5 years and while there are advantages to it, it's a 35 minute commute. Added to the fact that Matt has a long commute, we decided looking for something closer to home would be ideal.

So after many interviews I applied for a part time position in a school district practically down the road from our home. During my interview the director mentioned a full time elementary position possibly opening up soon.
Fast forward to our vacation. He called me back and said the position was open and they wanted to interview me for it. Thank goodness he was open to phone interviews so we arranged a date and time. That afternoon Matt and I came back to our hotel room early to wait for the call. Since we had an hour I hopped into the shower (you can see where this is going right?). Literally the call came as I was stepping out the shower. Good thing it wasn't facetime because you can imagine what kind of suit I was wearing. All worth it though because they offered me the position and I start next week! I'm so beyond excited to be joining this district!

Yay for a new job closer to home Laura!! I am so happy for you and excited to hear about it! you will be so happy without that drive! Susan
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That's so nice that not only are you much closer to home but you also locked in the full-time position! I've actually been super stressing out about a possible major change with my job too.

I used to teach many moons ago in a town that was about a 40 minute drive from home. If I'm honest I was quite pleased as it meant I wasn't bumping into children and their parents on my front doorstep! Hope it all goes well for you. Just love your colour combination today Laura. Gorgeous wartermelon shorts with a mint top. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny! Congrats on the new job though - being able to work close to home is going to give you so much more time during the week!
ReplyDeleteLove the coral and mint together too!

ReplyDeleteHooray!! I'm so excited for you, Laura! Congratulations on your new job! I'm finally at a job where I'm close to home...something I've never had before. It's a great feeling! Also, I love that you did your interview without clothes on, haha!
