Striped Skirt and Graphic Tee

Shirt-Loft, thrifted (similar, similar) | Skirt-Old Navy (similar, similar) | Bracelets-DIY | Necklace-gift | Sandals-Steve Madden (exact, similar

One (very small) downside about working in the schools is having the whole summer to dress in casual clothes. I know, it's just horrible. Pure torture. But when I actually miss my dress clothes, I pull out my comfy jersey pencil skirt from Old Navy. I got this one last spring, but they have the same style in stores now. The stretch makes it so easy to move around in and being knee-length I don't have to worry about any 'issues' when I bend down to talk to or pick up Claire!
Do you still make excuses to wear work clothes during the summer?

  1. I have a similar skirt too and love it. Love the longer length on yours. Good luck with the surgery today! <3 Hugs, Ada.

  4. Total opposite! I have to force myself to dress up in the summer because its always so hot. I rather just wear shorts and a tank everyday but I try to mix it up. But you make this "work" look very casual and summer appropriate

  5. I know how you feel - I haven't worn my pencil skirts and have hardly touched my blazers since I lost my job. I know I could still wear them, but somehow it's not the same.
I think taking a skirt like this and making it a little more casual is a great idea.

  6. I mostly just wear tees and jeans during the summer, so you sure can't tell by looking that I miss my work clothes (LOL), but I do. I love your skirt, have been eyeing one like it.
I needed knee surgery for 20 years before I had it, truly, and the difference before and after is amazing. Good luck on your surgery today.

  8. Thank you so much! It is nice to dress up sometimes. I think the surgery went well and it's actually nice to have a chance to put my feet up and not worry about anything but recovery! :)

  9. Oh, I am right there with you! I pulled out a skirt earlier this week, just because I wanted to wear something other than shorts. I'm sure by the time August rolls around, I'll want to wear my blazers and dress pants too!

  10. I have so many non-casual summer clothes from when I worked during the summer, but I am hardly tempted to wear any of them during the summer. The striped skirt is a great choice for those days when you do want to dress up a little!

  11. That skirt is so flattering! It looks great on you! And by the way, I'm sitting at home now, with absolutely no plans wearing a t-shirt dress, because I wanted to. So yes, I do find reasons to wear 'work' clothes!

  12. Ahh, that Old Navy skirt. I have seen it on so many bloggers, and I so desperately want it. But I've tried it on like three times, and it always looks frightful on me. *sigh*
Love how you styled it, though! Great look.

  13. I always think I should be a teacher in the summers, but then I remember that I would not be good at dealing with children during the year! My office is pretty casual, but I still feel like shorts are weird, so I wish I had more days off to wear them! Anyway, I love this outfit! My skirt like this is one of my favorites.
