Happy Memorial Day!

Thank goodness this is a 3 day weekend and we have another day left! Some down time is much needed! We've been having issues with our cat and spent part of Saturday dealing with him. He came to us about 7 years ago and followed us home from church. Although not the most sociable cat, I love him. He had some issues a month ago and has continued with them. One problem leads to another and I just want him to be better.

I also tried running Saturday and my IT band hurt again. I've had issues every time I try to run for 2 years now and tried time off, ibuprofen regimen, have gone through therapy, roller ball stretching, new custom orthodics, and a cortisone shot. I now have an IT band brace on order from amazon.com. Running has been a part of my life since eighth grade and it's so heartbreaking that I can't run a 1 mile without pain. I am really hoping something changes soon. I've run 7 marathons and the thought of never being able to run again is not something I want to comtemplate.

We did have a lovely day yesterday at my cousins' graduation party (yes, that apostrophe is correct. they are twins). Claire has decided she is too old for morning naps, but surprised us with minimal crabbiness. We got a bike trailer for her to ride in and she LOVES it. Hopefully the weather cooperates today and we can go on another ride!

I've got an international ASOS giveaway going on so make sure you enter!
And check out how else I have worn these pants here, here, here, here, and here

  2. I hope your cat feels better! I love the story of how he became your cat…so sweet.

I tried running with the fiancé a couple of months ago and it hurts my ankle when I run. I am trying to find some new things to help as well.

  5. I'm sorry to hear about your pain. I've been having weird pain near my hip and gluts, but can't figure out what it is -- it just gives sometimes when I walk. It sounds like you've tried everything in the book, so the two suggestions of stretching and the long rubber bands probably would be of no use to you. I hope you feel better soon!

  8. Okay I love that shirt! Can't believe it's from Wal-mart! Good find. I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. Animal issues are so hard. And your running issues! My husband has been dealing with the same thing and I know he has felt really defeated. I hope the IT band helps! Will you let me know?

  9. Of course! I've been reading all I can and this was the only option I haven't tried so fingers crossed! It seems like it doesn't help the IT band syndrome itself, only the pain with running, but at this point I will take anything!

  11. Aw I am so sorry to hear about both your cat and your IT band! I have a rescue dog that I am dealing with right now who has serious spring allergies, so we'll be spending part of this week at the vet too.
As for running, having an injury really is one of the most frustrating feelings. I've had several (plantar fasciitis, piriform syndrome...), and it's always difficult to deal with being sidelined. I sincerely hope the brace works for you!

  12. Sorry to hear about the pain and the cat. I love exercise, too, but had to stop last year completely after having an injury. I know it's extremely difficult to give up something you love so much, but at the moment it looks like your body is telling you something and you have to stop and listen to the signals. Take care! x
