I had my first working mommy moment this weekend. Well, it kind of happened twice. I’ve been waiting for it to happen so at least I was semi-prepared. It doesn’t mean it felt good though. Claire had just gotten up from her afternoon nap so I was getting her a snack. Normally we feed her fruit or cheese or something. We had a packet of animal crackers though so I just got those out to feed her.
She pointed right at the crackers and said, “Cackuh.” Um, I did not teach you that word. That is not okay. I mean it’s okay that she is learning so much, but having her go to daycare is a huge part of her waking hours that I don’t get to be a part of. The daycare teacher also says she knows the sign for please, too.

I absolutely love being a mommy. Right now I would say it’s my most important job. So being a working mommy is a tough line to walk. Times like this remind me of that. And the times she cries when I drop her off or the times I find she got a bump or bruise and it was someone else comforting her. I am so grateful for my breaks throughout the year and for summers off. That helps.
I totally respect women who can balance it all and work full time. And I also am amazed by women who work in the home as stay at home mommies. For me, I would love to go part time some day. Having extra time to run errands, spend time with my daughter, but still having a professional life seems like the dream for me! Hopefully one day it happens! Until then I will just keep my fingers crossed and give Claire an extra hug when I drop her off!
It’s the last day to enter my statement earrings giveaway!
