Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake

There is just something about home baked goods that is so much better than store bought. It's too bad they aren't as convenient though! I love how tasty this is and that it takes less time to whip up than running to the grocery store. And no dishes to clean up afterwards. I've made this a few times and it makes the whole house smell amazing.

1. You need a can of crushed pineapple, can of cherry pie filling, box of yellow cake mix, and a stick of butter. You can use low fat pie filling and margarine if you want. It doesn't change the taste or anything else about the dish.

2. Press half the cake mix into a greased 9x13 pan.

3. Pour the can of pineapple and juice over top.

4. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over top of pineapple.

5. Then sprinkle the remaining cake mix over top.

6. Slice the butter and lay over top. The butter melts and forms a type of crust with the cake mix.

7. Bake at 350F for 1 hour.

  2. I've made this since I was a kid, it's so easy and delicious! I make it a little different, with all the fruit on the bottom and then the cake and butter on the top, but I'm sure it has the same effect!

  3. I don't think I had heard of the word "dump cake" before but I get it. This sounds delicious and so easy. Maybe something I can actually make. I also love pineapple and cherries used for pie fillings. =) Good job, Laura.
