Twofer Tuesday

I have to hand it to this dress. It's been through a lot already and I've only worn it once. I wore it to work and went to get a student for speech. We will say there was an "incident" that ended in me covered in paint splatters. Awesome. But several baby wipes later and I was good to go. No pilling, stretching out or anything! Nicely done dress, nicely done. ;)

Sometimes dark jeans and cognac boots are all you need to pull an outfit together (thanks Closet Workhorses!) I wore this on a Saturday for errands and was warm and cozy, but so comfortable! I know I love my layers, but I am reminded of the acronym K.I.S.S. with this outfit. Just Keep It Simple Sweetheart!

How do you keep it simple?

  1. Great dress. And I love a short sleeve sweater!

  2. You layer so well! We are back to layering here in Houston. All of sudden, after our hot and humid, short and sandal wearing days, this nasty cold front came in and now it's been raining like crazy. I'm so over all this Winter. We are not used to this. Oh well. I'm loving those boots. I'm really needing to take my time (3 years it seems) to find the perfect calf fitting cognac boots. I've impulsively bought some from Zara that will sit in my closet til I decide to give them away.

Hope you are having a lovely week.

  3. Love that first outfit. Gorgeous dress & vest. Nicely put-together yet very casual and comfy. The second outfit is nice and K.I.S.S. too. Loving the sweater and earrings. I keep it simple very similarly to you, during this season: skinny pants tucked into boots and a sweater or tunic top. Then I add some bling through my Necklace or Earrings. Sometimes simple is best. This 2nd Outfit today is similar to the one yesterday, even similar-colored sweaters (love those sweaters).

  4. You and me both! Every time I look at the forecast it's more snow. Ug! I'm sure rain isn't any better! It took me some searching to find my boots, but I absolutely love them! I have smaller calves so it was hard to find some that weren't too big there. Good luck with your search! :)

  5. That dress is super cute! I'm glad it survived the paint incident! And I like your version of K.I.S.S better than what I have heart. Sweetheart is nice than Stupid!

  6. LOVE that dark green dress! Can't believe that vest is from Target- super cute! And that cream sweater looks SO cozy! You're right though- just simple colors and outfits are all you need. Sometimes I find myself over accessorizing but an outfit can be good on it's own by being simple! (May have to steal this "Twofer Tuesday" idea...so cute!)

  8. Thanks! I was glad, too! It's kind of the joke around work now about how I like to dress up and of course I'm the one who gets paint all over myself! ;)

  9. Thanks Valerie! Sometimes I get so caught up in layering and accessories I forget simple can be stylish, too! And steal away! ;)

  12. I really like the stripe dress and vest combo. So glad the paint came out, that would be so frustrating!

  13. Considering it wasn't exactly an accident, yes frustrating is the perfect word! ;)
