Red, Blue, and Grey

There are a few color combinations I am a little scared of. One is red and yellow (fear of looking like a condiment). Another is red and blue (It's a little early for the 4th of July). I love both of the color combinations, but I don't like to wear them because I just don't know how. I saw this pin and loved that the work was done for me. It was super cute and wasn't too patriotic. Instead of a dress I used my skirt and a blue top and it worked out perfectly.
How do you wear red and blue?

  1. I can definitely feel hesitant about wearing red and blue together too. They have too be just the right shades and having another color, like the grey you are wearing, helps too! Cute look!

  2. YOU KNOW I'm trying to put a red and blue outfit together myself. I saw Carylee with an outfit on that she was just "trying on" in the Express fitting room and now I want it, red portofino & blue shorts. I fear those colors too and find it always looks great on others, as it does in these photos of you. Maybe I just might take the plunge after all. AND OMG, you guys still have snow?! I ran my usual 5k yesterday in 77 degree weather and have a farmer's tan to prove it. :) Have a lovely day!

  7. I don't wear much red and blue together. I love how you added the grey in to your outfit.

  8. Back in January when I had to go to a couple of Kids' Birthday Parties I wore my Navy Dress once with a Gray Cardigan and my Burgundy Tights and another time with my Red Cardigan, Nude Tights & Gray Boots. Unfortunately those were both 2 very long days and we only took some photos with the kids. No time to photograph the Outfits on their own. Anyway, great minds think alike.

I am also loving the photos by the way. The third picture is so cute, a total Fashion Blogger moment LOL.

P.S. Looking forward to Friday for our Swap. =)

  11. This is super cute! I wore a red, white, and blue outfit the other day and got a few comments about being patriotic. Whatever! I'm just glad our country has a flag with pretty colors on it. And I think the brown and gray of your outfit helps keep it out of 4th of July territory! Plus hopefully we won't still have snow at that point!!

  14. I sometimes will throw in a non-white color (like yellow, or some other neutral) to keep it from looking patriotic. I think the greys and browns do a great job of balancing the outfit. That scarf is really great!

  15. Ah! I actually wore a super similar outfit modeled after one of Audrey's (from Putting Me Together) this past fall, and I loved the outfit. I, too, hesitate with red and blue for the same reason (same thing with red and yellow, red and green, etc.), but it works with the gray, I think! That scarf that you're wearing looks SO cozy and soft!!

  16. Whaat, don't be scared of this color combination, it looks amazing on you! I usually think of the red/navy combo as a summer thing, but you just proved to me that it can work fabulously for winter as well! :)

  17. Oh yes, forgot about the red and green avoidance. What is it with red that makes colors harder to pair with it? Poor red! ;)

  18. I absolutely love this! All the different colors are so unexpected, and I'm actually kind of stunned at how well they look together in this outfit! This is really gorgeous.
