I don’t think it’s a secret that I love layering button up shirts under sweaters. It’s such a no brainer for me to add color and patterns. I mean, if I am going to layer for warmth I might as well try to make it cute. When I was reevaluating my closet last year around this time, I felt like my closet was really missing button ups. I never realized how versatile they could be. Of course my favorites are the ones you don’t have to iron!

I wore this last week for one of our cold days home from work. I wanted to be comfortable and warm! I saw a similar look on pinterest (here) and thought it would be perfect. Merrick from Merrick’s Art did a great job of creating outfits out of her wardrobe staples and I was excited I had all the pieces to recreate one! The sweater really helps tone down the denim on denim look. I added my plaid flats for a little bit of pattern mixing (and since I wasn’t leaving the house I didn’t feel the need to wear boots).
