Twofer Tuesday: Sweaters and Collared Shirts

I don't think it's a secret that I love layering button up shirts under sweaters. It's such a no brainer for me to add color and patterns. I mean, if I am going to layer for warmth I might as well try to make it cute. When I was reevaluating my closet last year around this time, I felt like my closet was really missing button ups. I never realized how versatile they could be. Of course my favorites are the ones you don't have to iron!

I wore this last week for one of our cold days home from work. I wanted to be comfortable and warm! I saw a similar look on pinterest (here) and thought it would be perfect. Merrick from Merrick's Art did a great job of creating outfits out of her wardrobe staples and I was excited I had all the pieces to recreate one! The sweater really helps tone down the denim on denim look. I added my plaid flats for a little bit of pattern mixing (and since I wasn't leaving the house I didn't feel the need to wear boots).

  1. Cute! Layering a button-down under a sweater has been a go-to for warmth this winter! And pretty much every sweater looks great over a chambray!

  2. I really like your long tunic/sweater! And button ups that don't have to be ironed are the best kind...chambray is good for that! :P

  3. I need to get on the button-up bandwagon. I love how they look on other people, but they always feel too bulky for me.

  4. Hi. Both outfits are great but I like the first one slightly more. Great necklaces too. And I think every woman should own Burgundy Pants. They go with everything. =)

  6. I love the length of that first sweater with the leopard. Layering always looks so put together. The plaid flats are nice with the stripes!

  7. I know what you mean - it has become my go to winter style and I now have more button ups than necessary!

Love that first look - are those velvet pants? and that necklace! I've been lusting after it, but I have probably more statement jewelry than button ups...

  8. I have a few button up. My problem with them are most of my sleeve are short. I just got a neon orange one last week that I can't wait to wear. Layering is so much fun to do.

  9. They are! I was a little unsure about them, but they were a great color and $4. Definitely worth it with as much as I wear them, too. I have so many statement necklaces. I think they multiply like rabbits in my jewelry box!

  12. Yes, we typically are pretty sick of it by this point of the season! Unfortunately we probably have another month to month and a half of it! I guess at least it rarely gets over 100 degrees here in summer... ;)

  15. Both outfits are great! I love the leopard peaking out of the first outfit. And I definitely pinned Merrick's outfit that inspired your second one. So I'll probably be wearing it before too long!

  17. Just found you through H & K Style Journey. I love both looks but especially love the mix of leopard and tortoise shell in the first look. You have a great blog; I'm definitely following along!
