Juxtapositions

Plaid is something that has just recently been added to my wardrobe. I wasn't quite sure how to wear it. With so much inspiration out there for plaid pieces now, I am really getting more ideas. One of my favorite ways is to dress it up. Plaid is inherently casual, so it is fun to dress it up with a skirt and some sparkly jewelry. Pairing items that may be considered to be on the opposite ends of the style spectrum create an interesting outfit to me. Juxtapositions like casual and fancy, bold and neutral, and masculine/menswear inspired and feminine make each piece stand out more.
What are some opposites you pair for contrast?

  1. I've been really wanting to try dressing up a plaid shirt for a while now. I just keep forgetting about it! I really like the way you've worn it here.

  4. I really love to dress up a graphic t-shirt. It's easier in the summer, but I should try to work it into my winter wardrobe. Something about a concert tee with a skirt or blazer is just a fun combination!

I like the plaid and sparkly necklace here - perfect combination of casual and fancy!

  8. Love the plaid + sparkle! I tend to gravitate toward the masculine/feminine juxtaposition, as well as edgy/girly (think leather jacket with lace!).
