Man oh man! What a week and what a weekend! We had Claire’s birthday party (finally) on Saturday. We didn’t want to plan a party close to her actual birthday because most people are busy around Christmas celebrating or traveling. So, we decided a couple weeks after the day would be more feasible. It was a lovely time and Claire and the other kiddos seemed to have a lot of fun. I know the first birthday party seems to be mostly for the parents (and the pictures so you can show your children when they are older all the trouble you went to just for their party), but I still say it was a good time had by all!
The theme was bears because we always call her Claire Bear. Easiest theme ever! We were able to use all her stuffed animals around the house. We decorated with streamers, banners, Chinese lanterns, and tissue balls, too.

At first I was a little thrown off by planning party food for kids. Nothing too spicy, or a choking hazard, or that can be smeared anywhere. Hmmm. Matt and I settled on crockpot mac and cheese and rosemary pulled pork sandwiches. Still grown up, but kid friendly. The pork was a huge hit! It was so easy to make, too. I totally recommend it!
Thinking about all of this has made me realize something, too. Claire will not be missing out on anything by having her birthday on Christmas. With all the family events, everyone feels compelled to make it special for her so she gets tons of extra little celebrations! She isn’t missing out, she is cashing in! 😉
Hope everyone had a great weekend like we did!
See how else I’ve worn my plaid shirt here and here.
