Statistics and Probability

I've taken a statistics class twice. Once in undergrad and another time in grad school, but I don't think either class explains the phenomenon I experience multiple times each year.

The weekend constitutes a mere 2/7 of the week while work days take the majority at 5 out of 7 days. So probability would dictate I get sick on a week day, right? Wrong!

Turtleneck- Elder Beerman's // Vest- Target (exact) // Pants- Delia's (for $15!, similar) // Boots- Naturalizer (similar) // Necklace- Lia Sophia

Saturday morning and I wake up stuffy, clogged, and with a sore throat and cough. It's situations like this that leave my sick days unused all year. Thank goodness for Puff's plus with lotion so I don't look like Rudolph (because no matter what the stores think, it is not Christmas season yet)!

  1. Oh no, well I hope you feel better soon! But I know what you mean, I feel like I'm always getting sick only on the weekends or over holidays.

  2. I'm sorry you got sick :( I love this outfit though, it seems like everyone has this vest now, but it's not at my local Target :(

Sorry you are sick! That happened to me over my last three day weekend. :( Feel better! Oh, and I love these purple pants.

  5. Oh gosh, I hope you are feeling better! I always suspect that our bodies are running on adrenaline and keep us healthy when we are really busy, and then when we have a day off or a vacation, the immune system is like "cool, I can take a break" and all the germs catch up to us. And then I want to take a day off work to use as my weekend, since my weekend was spent recovering!

  6. Of course! No one ever gets sick on a work day. I hope you're feeling better, lady! Love that vest and (of course) those pants!

  7. Hope you're feeling better! I'm thinking I might just have to head over to Target today to see if they have this vest and give it a try.

  8. Thanks Inge! At least I didn't catch the awful stomach bug going around!

  9. Oh no! I got it a couple weeks ago, but still had to do the online search to see where it was locally because it was out of stock online. JCP has a cute option I think by Liz Claiborne.

  10. Thank you Alison! I liked it more than other versions because it's more fitted and actual tweed. :)

  11. What's up with that?! Such a bummer to feel like you wasted a 3 day weekend. :( The silly thing is that if I got sick during the week I would probably just work anyway because it is harder to try and make up the work you missed than just dealing with being sick at work.

  12. I think you are right! In college I always used to get sick right after finals. I always say I need to take a sick day, but I like to save up my sick days just in case so I force myself to go to work anyway.

  13. Of course not! Why should you be allowed to enjoy your weekend? Slowly starting to feel better, thanks! At least my students are a little easier on me when I am sick!

  15. I love mine so far! They do run a bit small though. So glad to hear your interview went well and you got the job! Hope it's all going well!

  18. Laura, both my husband and I have experienced the same things! We also both get sick on breaks from school (I'm in the K-12 system and he's in the college system, and it never fails that as soon as winter break hits, we both get sick!!). I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well, but I hope you're turning a corner soon! I absolutely adore this outfit, by the way. Those purple pants are AMAZING and I love that vest as well. I almost bought the vest but it was way too bulky on me (I already have enough of my own bulk, haha).
