I don’t think it is a secret I love easy and quick recipes. I like to make dinner 4-5 nights a week and that can take time. Let’s just say I have a few cookbooks with 5 ingredient recipes or an entire books of crockpot recipes. This is one of them from Favorite Brand Name Slow Cooker Recipes. The original recipe is called Southwestern Style Chicken, but we call it Taco Chicken because of the seasonings (and it’s less of a mouthful to say!).
1. This is so tasty and the chicken turns out really tender. To make it you’ll need 6-8 chicken breasts, a package of taco seasoning mix, 1/4c. flour, 1 onion chopped, 2 green peppers chopped, and a can of diced tomatoes with chilis. Combine flour and all but 1t. taco seasoning in a ziploc bag. Add chicken 1-2 pieces at a time and shake until coated.
2. Place chicken and onion in a large, greased skillet. Cook chicken over medium high heat until brown and onion is translucent. Place in slow cooker and sprinkle with remaining seasoning.
3. Top with chopped green peppers and undrained tomatoes. Cook on low 6-7 hours. Season with salt and pepper to taste. I love shredding the chicken and making omelets the next day. You can also add chicken broth and more tomatoes to make it into a soup.
