Shrinking Cashmere

I've been looking for red cardigan for a while. Of course it has to be the perfect color red, v-neck, and long enough to cover my backside. The search was taking a while... I saw this one on ThredUp and ordered it because it looked perfect and I only paid $3.50. I was just nervous about the size. Although it says my size, the brand tends to run big. Unfortunately, when it arrived it was too big. But, I was shocked to find it was cashmere. I didn't want to send it back since I paid so little and because it was cashmere! The good news is I mostly fixed it. A little warm water and viola! A size smaller. I might dry it on low next time to see if I can shrink it just a tad more. Who knew the shrinking qualities of cashmere would work to my advantage?!

  4. I KIND OF LIKE IT MORE LOOSE. I have 4 red cardigans albeit mine are all regular length and crew-neck. I can use one in this style. I love red with cognac, too.

  5. Yeah, unfortunately I figured that out when my black cashmere cardigan snuck into the wash and then the dryer. The warm water helped it a lot, it was so much bigger before this!

  6. Thanks Kim! The $10 referral codes at ThredUp help so much (and it helps I have 2 email addresses so I referred myself once! ;)

  7. Ah the joys of thrifting! You're right though, I should keep this in mind when thrifting because a lot of sweaters I pass over due to their large size.

  9. I like v-neck cardigans once in a while, too just to switch it up. I like it about this size, it was a size or two bigger than this when I got it so I am happy warm water mostly did the trick!

  18. Great find! And I recently bought some cognac flat-heeled boots, so I'm storing up on inspiration as the temps get chillier :)
