Puff Pancakes

I had these for the first time a few years ago at a bed and breakfast with my mom. The owner said she likes to make them for company because you can bake them all at once and don't have to stand over the stove flipping pancakes. Good point. Of course then you would need more than a few cake pans. Either way, they are very tasty and bake into a fun bowl shape-perfect for toppings!

1. You need 3 eggs, 3/4c. milk, 3/4c. flour, 2t. sugar, and 1t. nutmeg or cinnamon, if desired. I also added 1t. of vanilla extract.

2. Preheat oven to 425F. and grease 1 round cake pan. Put all ingredients in a blender and mix until frothy.

3. Pour into greased cake pan. Bake for 16-18 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Serve with fruit and/or maple syrup.

  1. My daughter's dad used to make these all the time, but he and his family call them Dutch babies. So good! I added white chocolate chips to it one time... mmmm. I haven't made one in forever, thanks for the reminder!

  2. omg, my mouth is watering. That sounds amazing little chef Laura. =)

  3. This look greT, yum!

  4. Aren't these called Dutch babies or something like that? They are delicious, though I've not tried them at home before. Yours look great!

  5. I guess they are called dutch babies, too! The woman I got the recipe from called them German puffed pancakes so we just call them that. Dutch babies is a cuter name though!

  6. Thanks Ada! We think they are pretty tasty! :)

  7. Ooo! White chocolate chips? That sounds amazing! I'll have to try that next time, I love white chocolate!

  8. Yummy! I didn't know there were other oven baked pancakes? I just like that I don't have to stand over the stove and keep flipping these! :)

  9. I make these ALL the time! They're my favorite way to use up eggs when they're about to go bad :)
