It is sort of hard for me to know where to begin this post. As many of you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Many stores and companies honor this month with Think Pink items and products donating a portion of the proceeds to various breast cancer charities. I was recently contacted by Bloggers Think Pink to help earn money for the Bright Pink charity which focuses on early detection and prevention in young women and the Fab*U*Wish initiative which grants wishes to those undergoing breast or ovarian cancer treatment or have recently completed treatment. If you are interested, you can click the button in my right side bar which will be displayed the rest of this month.
Almost everyone has been affected by breast cancer in some way. For me, I know a couple women who had breast cancer that I hold in very high regard. Unfortunately after 7 years, one of those women lost her battle. There are many things you can do to show your support. But, most importantly I urge you to do monthly self exams and get mammograms starting at age 40 (or earlier if you have a family history). Early detection helps so much with survival rate. I hope and pray one day there will be a cure, but until then I will continue my monthly checks and supporting breast cancer in some way each October.
(I donated to the cause and am now considered a sponsor on the website, but I was not paid or compensated for this post. )
