So, I posted Friday about possibly doing some tips
about how to save money shopping. I think it would be easiest to do a series
focusing on different areas. Otherwise it’s way too much info and lots of typing!
These are just tips I’ve learned and my opinions. Take it for what it’s worth.

Today I’ll focus on thrifting. I’m lucky because I
live in a large city (that would be Milwaukee) with many thrift stores to
choose from. After visiting many of them, I think it is easiest to pick
one or two you think you would have the most luck with. There were a lot of the
stores where 95% of the clothes were not my style and the other 5% were not my
size or in poor condition. One Goodwill store near me has consistently nicer
clothes, brand names, and I’ve almost always had some great luck with finding
clothes there. This way, you are narrowing your selection, but increasing your
chance of finding some decent things.

Many thrift stores (Goodwill) have sale days where
a certain colored tag is 50% off. I try to plan my visits for Sunday afternoons
because Sunday and Mondays are 50% off days.
Don’t live near any decent thrift stores? I actually just found a site
through Kimmie’s blog, Blue Paper Lanterns, that
is an online thrifting site. It’s called Thredup and is slightly more expensive
than your average Goodwill, but you can search by size, color, and brand. That
takes a lot of the time and searching out of thrifting. I used the referral
code from her blog for $10 off my first order. Here is a referral
code you can use for $10 off your first order (disclosure: I will
get $10 on the site if you place an order). I’ve found a couple decent shirts
through them and was really pleased. I’m planning on selling some of my clothes that I don’t wear anymore through them as well.
