While I am off enjoying my vacation, I have my first guest blogger post! I am very excited to introduce Kim from Fairy Wings Make Good Soup. She features great recipes, cute outfits, DIY projects, and weekend updates on her blog. Kim is such a relatable person. Her recipes are easy to make and her outfits are attainable (and she’s pretty funny, too!). I hope you enjoy her as much as I do!
Hello, readers of I
do deClaire! I’m Kim, and I blog over at Fairy Wings Make Good Soup. Laura asked me to
guest post for her while she’s on vacation with her family, so you’re stuck
with me today.
I am a stay-at-home
military wife and mom to one (my beautiful but beleaguering 3 year old daughter
E). Fairy Wings Make Good Soup is a lifestyle blog where I chronicle our
adventures in both the stay-at-home mom lifestyle and the military family
lifestyle. My blog features posts on style, recipes, and daily life.
Laura and I have many
things in common, and one of them is that we are both moms who are looking to
improve our personal style. So today I’m going to share with you two looks that
take the typical “mom on the go” look, and bring it up a notch.
This first look takes
all of your basic elements of your standard mommy on the go outfit—tee, jeans,
and shoes—but makes them interesting. The cobalt skinny jeans stand out, and
the plain black tee keeps it from being too over the top. The scarf adds
texture, and we bring a little print into the mix with the leopard flats. Flats
are a great way to look pulled-together without having to
wear heels.
Scared of colored
denim? It’s okay, I was too, once. A great fitting trouser jean would look chic
here too.
This look is the same
way—tee, shorts, sandals—but the print of the shorts makes it so much more fun.
I tend to shy away from white, but I’m pretty sure I could spill anything on
these shorts and you wouldn’t be able to tell. As for the tee, if you spill anything
on it, throw a jacket on and it along with the scarf should cover it up.
Still not sure about
a white tee? These shorts have multiple colors you could pull from (like I did
with the orange-y coral scarf), just wear a tee that is close to one of those
colors.
And there you have
it! Proof that the key to being a chic mommy on the go is all about finding
pieces that do the work for you. It took me just as long to throw this together
as it would have to put on a boring tee and ill-fitting jeans combo.
